Do you make any other kits besides the XR and XS?
Currently No. We are currently working on plans for a "cross-over" Cobra and "cross-over" GT-40.
What is the normal delivery time of a XR/XS?
A kit is ready to ship within about 4-8 weeks except after a major kit car or buggy show.
How do I order a XR/XS?
Very easy. Just complete the Order Form on the website, read and sign the Terms and Conditions and send them with a deposit equal to 50% of the order. Once received, you are now in the production line and an approximate delivery date will be given to you*. The balances of the order amount, including all

shipping costs are due in full prior to the order leaving the factory. We accept personal checks, cashier's checks, money orders, and electronic transfers.
* Note - A personal check will not secure our place in line or release the kit for shipping until it clears the bank. How much does shipping cost?
Shipping costs vary depending on your location. A complete XR/XS body with the basic accessories weighs less than 500 lbs and will be placed in a hand built container. We seek a common carrier with the best possible freight rates to your destination or you can arrange for your own shipping if you prefer. You can save yourself the crating costs if you want to pick up the body yourself at the factory with a flat bed trailer.
Can I come visit the factory?
Yes, but since we are both making bodies and designing new ones, we prefer that you make an appointment several days in advance to give you the quality time.
Can the interior be closed in and heated for cold weather driving?
We are currently working on a bikini top with snap in window curtains. A more permanent hard top will be offered later. Heating and defrosting your vehicle is done by routing hot air from the stock VW heat exchanger to special air diffusers (not including) in the dash.
What colors does the XS/XR come in?
They are only offered in primer greg gel coat, read to finish send any imperfections/mold lines prior to painting your own custom color.
I have limited mechanical abilities, how long would it take to construct a XS/XR?
Fortunately the VW Beetle floor plan, running gear and engine on which the XS/XR is based on, is extremely simple enthusiastic what has limited mechanical knowledge and skills and would be a great father-teenager "bonding" project. That said the "assembly" time, on an average, takes as little as 30 hours not including disassembly of donor vehicle. S
What year and model donor vehicle should be used?
The XS/XR is based on a shortened chassis and components of a VW Type 1 air-cooled Beetle (not Super Beetles).
How much will it cost to build a completed buggy?
It depends. Do you have wine taste and a wine wallet or a beer taste and a beer wallet? The quantity and quality of the accessories and any after-market parts, will dictate the cost direction for your XR/XS. Additionally cost is a function of the amount of labor you do yourself (or friends/relatives) in lieu of hiring it out. That said, I believe you can build a relatively nice XR/XS for under $10,000 if the labor was done at home and the accessories were selected in moderation.
What size tire and wheels are on the XR/XS?
The kit doesn't include tires or wheels but we use:Front Tires - P265x50-15 (BF Goodrich T/A radials) on 10 X 15" wheels Rear Tires - P295x50-15 (BF Goodrich T/A radials) on 12 X 15" wheels Can I get a XR/XS without building it myself?

Are there any trunk or storage areas?
There is a truck under the front hood that comes standard on the XR. An optional front hood with lights can be obtained for the XS.
Is it easy to get insurance on a Veloce XS/XR?
In most cases, your existing insurance company covering your daily driver can obtain XS/XR insurance. As with any thing or service with a cost, it does not hurt to get a second (and sometimes third) quite. Insurance always varies depending on age, driving experience (i.e. no claims), year of vehicle (base year) engine size (modifications), etc. It pays to shop around.
Does the XR/XS retain the registration of the VW Beetle donor vehicle it came from?
Although laws vary state-to-state (as in country-to-country), most recognize this the XR/XS as the donor vehicle (Some states require reconstructed or specialty constructed vehicles) to have a "Manufacturers Certificate of Origin" (MCO). In the case of a specialty built chassis. You are encouraged to research local statutes though your local and/or state Motor Vehicle Dept. All Velocity XR/XS are furnished with a MCO and an ID number fastened to the body.
